Spindle cells

Spindled cells are cigar shaped and can sometimes be differentiated as to the cell of origin from either having tapered or blunt ends. However spindled cells can be squamous, melanocytic, nerve, muscle, fibroblastic or even endothelial. Immunoperoxidase stains are needed to determine the cell of origin in many malignant tumours.
